Use of artificial intelligence in the work of the Court of Audit

19 December 2025

To keep pace with rapid digital change, improve institutional performance and achieve its strategic objectives, the Court of Audit has begun a series of integrated activities entitled “Using artificial intelligence in the Court’s work: opportunities and challenges”, in cooperation with the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme. The aim is to establish a culture of innovation and open an in-depth professional discussion of possible uses of artificial intelligence tools, while taking account of governance requirements, ethical safeguards and data protection.

The initiative began with the establishment of a team and the organisation of awareness days from 24 to 28 November 2025 for all Court personnel. These days introduced artificial intelligence and its developments and considered how it might be used in the workplace, helping to develop skills and strengthen institutional readiness to adopt innovative solutions.

The activities continued with focus groups from 1 to 5 December 2025 to discuss the opportunities and challenges of using artificial intelligence across the Court’s areas of work, including governance, audit work and judicial work. These sessions provided a forum for exchanging views and developing practical proposals.

This process continued with a scientific seminar on 18 and 19 December 2025, at which the outcomes of workshops on the various themes were presented and discussed. The workshops produced practical recommendations that will be used in preparing the Court of Audit’s artificial intelligence strategy.

Through this initiative, the Court of Audit affirms its commitment to using artificial intelligence within a balanced vision based on efficiency and transparency, while observing the principles of good governance to improve performance and keep pace with developments in public service.
